Higher Education in Cyprus
Higher education in Cyprus is provided in both public and private institurions and the system is under constant development. The Department of Higher Tertiary Education (DAAE) in Cyprus has has taken big measures to increase funding, research and interest for higher education, three state universities has been opened. The DAAE also establiched a Council of Educational Evaluation-Accreditation which aims to keep a constant level of education in Cyprus and make sure that infrastructure and equipment live up to these standards. Since Cyprus became a member of the EU in 2004 the role of higher education in the country has grown even bigger and the Open University of Cyprus has opened its doors.
As English is the language of instruction in many programmes of higher education in Cyprus many abroad students find their education here. In 2005-06 many foreign students came from Europe, India, Bangladesh and China.
ELIGIBILITY TEST REQUIREMENTS :
No IELTS/TOEFL is required: Cracking the IELTS/TOEFL Tests are the major hurdle for many students in their way to study abroad. Fortunately, Cyprus allows students to come and study with their education providers without imposing condition to clear any language test. There is no form of descrimination.

Study Abroad in Cyprus
If you live inside the European Union The travelling will be made a bit easier but if you are from a country outside of the EU you will also need entry clearance issued by a Cyprus Diplomatic Mission in your home country to enter and study in Cyprus.
Before leaving their home country, all foreign student must make sure to bring:
- - Original Bank Certificate for the payment of the academic fees and receipt from the college against the fees paid.
- - Original Academic Certificates
- - Original Passport. Passport should be valid for at least one year from the day of entry into Cyprus
- - Visa or entry clearance
- - Money in cash for the accommodation and living expenses
Upon arrival in Cyprus the immigration officer will also ask for you fingerprints in addition to these documents. It is recommended that you double check these procedures with the Embassy of Cyprus in your country before leaving to enter Cyprus.
The Turkish embassy in most countries represent the Visa Process and application medium for a study or Visa permit to the republic of Northern Cyprus. Below are the Visa application Requirements for an invitation and consequently study permit grant for studies in the Republic of Northern Cyprus.
- Copies of the relevant pages of the International Passport (Data and Extension Pages) with at least 6 months validity on Passport.
- Duly filled Visa Application form.
- Two passport size photograph
- Admission/Acceptance Letter by the University.
- Payment receipts of school fees from the University.
- Confirmation letter from the school acknowledging receipt of payment.
- Proof of basic education, copies of graduation diploma and certificates (W.A.S.C., NECO, S.S.C.E., Statement of Result, etc.) duly signed and approved by the Federal Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs thereafter,
- Proof of BA education, copy of university graduation diploma duly signed and approved by the Federal Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs thereafter.(For master students),
- Guarantee letter signed by the sponsor and the student, stating that the sponsor will cover all the expenses of the student, and the student will never apply to any person or institution (including university) for financial support or scholarship, certified by a public notary.
- Original “Personal” bank statement for the last three months of the sponsor together with original approval/reference letter from the bank branch manager.
- Consent letter from the parents if you are less than 18 years old. (Sealed by notary or court.)
- Flight reservation.
- Sponsor's ID, photocopy of sponsor's National ID Card or International Passport or Driver's License.
- “Vaccination Card” for yellow fever and typhoid diseases.
- If the above mentioned requirements are not met and the documents are not provided in full, your application will not be considered and you will have to take a new appointment in order to submit your full documentation. The Embassy does not take any responsibility that this may cause delay and may result in missing deadlines related to your business, tourism or education in Turkey or Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
